Proji Company is a constituent unit of the "National Engineering Research Center for Protein Technology" of Tsinghua University. It is the first national engineering laboratory established by the National Development and Reform Commission at Tsinghua University. Former President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhou Guangzhao, and the "Father of DNA", Nobel laureate James D. Watson served as honorary directors of the laboratory, with Professor Luo Yongzhang serving as the director. -

On June 6, 2009, Li Yuanchao, member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, secretary of the Central Secretariat, and minister of the Organization Department, inspected Beijing Protgen Biotechnology Development Co., Ltd. Li Zhiyong, vice minister of the Organization Department; Wang Anshun, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee; Zhao Fengtong, standing committee member of the Beijing Municipal Committee; Lü Xiwen, standing committee member and minister of the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee; Guo Hong, director of the Zhongguancun Management Committee; Hu Heping, secretary of the Tsinghua University Party Committee; and Chen Xu, vice president of Tsinghua University, accompanied the inspection.
