National Engineering Research Center for Protein Technology
The National Engineering Research Center for Protein Technology, established in 2021, formerly known as the National Engineering Laboratory for Anti-tumor Protein Drugs. The center is affiliated with the School of Life Sciences of Tsinghua University, and the director is Professor Luo Yongzhang. The honorary directors are Zhou Guangzhao and James Watson.
The co-construction unit of the center is Protgen Company. The center is committed to developing key core technologies for the industrial preparation of protein drugs. It has pioneered the concept of "young, undamaged, ultra-pure recombinant albumin" internationally and, on this basis, explored from a new perspective the mechanism of "young ultra-pure recombinant albumin" in resisting aging, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, type 2 diabetes and several complications, obesity, muscle atrophy, myocardial hypertrophy and other major diseases. The efficacy has been verified in cells and animals. Albumin is the most abundant protein in plasma, accounting for 60% of the total plasma protein and providing 80% of the reducing power in plasma and bearing 80% of the colloid osmotic pressure in plasma. The center is currently researching the scientific mysteries behind these phenomena. "Young ultra-pure recombinant albumin" will be a significant contribution of scientific and technological progress to human civilization, and it will have immeasurable value for the health of the people and the strengthening of the nation, and benefiting humanity.
