It is the first national engineering laboratory established by the National Development and Reform Commission at Tsinghua University. Former President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhou Guangzhao, and the "Father of DNA", Nobel laureate James D. Watson served as honorary directors of the laboratory, with Professor Luo Yongzhang serving as the director. -

On the morning of July 29, Zhang Shuping, Secretary of the Yantai Municipal Party Committee; Yu Songbai, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary-General; Lü Shiqiang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Policy Research Office; and Wang Songjie, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Finance and Economics Office, accompanied by Mou Shuqing, Secretary of the Development Zone Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee, and others, visited and held a symposium at the Yantai Protgen Biopharmaceutical Park. Professor Luo Yongzhang, director of the "National Engineering Laboratory for Anti-tumor Protein Drugs" (hereinafter referred to as the National Engineering Laboratory) of Tsinghua University, and relevant responsible persons from the Yantai Protgen Biopharmaceutical Park participated in the investigation.
Secretary Zhang Shuping visited the production workshop and exhibition hall of the Yantai Protgen Biopharmaceutical Park, listened to Professor Luo Yongzhang's report on the transformation of biopharmaceutical achievements, and learned in detail about Protgen's technological innovation, product development, and production and operation.
Protgen is an important component of the National Engineering Laboratory. The National Engineering Laboratory was jointly established by Tsinghua University and Protgen Company and is the first national engineering laboratory established by the National Development and Reform Commission at Tsinghua University. Secretary Zhang Shuping encouraged the company to remain focused on innovation, vigorously carry out independent innovation and scientific research, strive to master more key core technologies, actively seize the commanding heights of industry development, and strive to be a pioneer in the biopharmaceutical industry.
At the symposium, Professor Luo Yongzhang extended a sincere welcome to Secretary Zhang Shuping and his entourage, gave a brief report on the problems and suggestions that urgently need to be addressed in the implementation and development of project industrialization, and conducted in-depth discussions with the responsible persons of various functional departments of the municipal Party committee and government on relevant issues.
Secretary Zhang Shuping spoke highly of Professor Luo Yongzhang's contributions to the development of Yantai's biopharmaceutical industry and expressed great expectations for the future development of Protgen Company. Secretary Zhang Shuping emphasized that Protgen Company, as a backbone enterprise in the city's biopharmaceutical industry, should unswervingly base itself in Yantai for development and growth, and promote the early implementation and production of new products and projects in Yantai. Relevant departments at all levels should create a first-class business environment and a first-class entrepreneurial ecosystem, providing support to Protgen Company in terms of talent, policies, finance, funds, and land. We should do everything possible to solve practical problems for enterprises and act as a strong backing for their development.
